On Sunday 10th August 2014, a good group of our archers ventured out to Woking Archery Club to compete in the 2nd Leg of the Flag Shoot.
As the day started with very heavy rain, our archers started to gingerly arrive at WAC field, wondering what they were letting themselves in for!
After a quick consultation amongst the 4 clubs' representatives, it was decided that the shoot was going ahead, with a little bit of a delay (basically we had to wait for a few nasty rain-laden clouds to pass).
So we started, a bit wet, but thankfully as there was a lot of wind, we were soon blessed with some sunshine! Shooting conditions remained challenging throughout the day, some of our "support team" had to hang on to the club's tent so it couldn't fly away, and there were a few comical moments with moving targets (on wheels) rushing towards our archers, like charging bulls.
It was lovely to see few new faces taking part and competing, doing well and achieving some very good results! Everyone who competed managed to complete the whole shoot, despite the chafing winds. All in all it was a very enjoyable day, and we are looking forward to hosting a leg of next year's tournament.
